Of all positions first-year Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff aim to fill during the 2019 recruiting cycle, wide receiver is arguably the position of greatest need for the Ducks.
On Sunday, Cristobal and company took another step towards addressing their relative shortcomings at the position by landing a verbal commitment from Josh Delgado, a four-star talent from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy.

With Oxnard (Calif.) three-star wideout JR Waters already in the fold, Delgado’s pledge is the second commitment the Ducks have received at wide receiver for the class of 2019, and their 14th verbal commitment overall. Prior to transferring to prep powerhouse IMG Academy following his junior season, Delgado made his name at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California.
A nationally renowned high school program in its own right, the St. John Bosco campus has been familiar recruiting ground to the Oregon coaching staff, particularly over the past several months. The Ducks have already landed a verbal commitment from SBJHS product and three-star defensive lineman Suaava Poti, in addition to being notably involved in the pursuit of highly touted targets such as four-star cornerback Chris Steele, four-star cornerback Trent McDuffie, four-star tight end Jude Wolfe, and three-star linebacker Ralen Goforth.
With 13 scholarship offers currently in hand, Delgado chose Oregon over offers from programs such as Washington, Arizona State, USC, and Arkansas.
Following Delgado’s commitment, the Ducks now have the nation’sĀ 6th-rankedĀ recruiting class for 2019 per 247Sports’ Composite Team Rankings.
