Oregon reels in huge receiving target from the Volunteer State

Recruiting / Thursday, June 28th, 2018

There was a time not that long ago where anxiety was slowly beginning to build amongst Duck fans regarding head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff’s ability to land top flight talent at the wide receiver position for the 2019 cycle.

It’s safe to say that after the events of the past couple of weeks, that is no longer a legitimate concern.

On Thursday, Cristobal and company landed a verbal commitment from Nashville (Tenn.) Franklin Road Academy four-star wide receiver Lance Wilhoite.

Rivals.com first reported Wilhoite’s commitment.

With his commitment, Wilhoite joins three-star JR Waters and four-star Josh Delgado as the three receivers in Oregon’s 14-man 2019 recruiting class to this point.

Like Waters, Wilhoite possesses a similar 6’3″ build, and is a player who will be counted on as a dynamic downfield threat in the Oregon offense.

Ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee, and the nation’s 22nd-ranked wide receiver by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, Wilhoite commits to Oregon after fielding offers from name-brand programs such as Tennessee, Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, and Clemson. In total, Wilhoite was the recipient of 25 scholarship offers.

With his commitment, the Ducks now boast the nation’s 4th-ranked recruiting class, per 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings.
